Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a self-defence Martial Art and combat sport based on grappling, ground fighting and submission holds. Here at Masters Academy we specialise in teaching everyday people the exciting techniques of BJJ.

In class we focus on the skill of controlling one's opponent, using technique and leverage so as to gain a dominant position and use skill to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds.

BJJ is a thinking persons Martial Art and has the added bonus of increasing your cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility.

We have a dedicated Beginners BJJ course on a Thursday at 6pm. All new students will need to attend this course for a minimum of 4 weeks to learn the fundamental techniques before being allowed to join our other BJJ class on a Monday at 8pm. The BJJ course includes a Gi and belt with your 4 weeks of training.

No one is expected to compete (unless you want to) as most of our students just train in BJJ for fun and fitness.

You will be looked after at all times as your safety is our primary concern and the atmosphere is kept relaxed and friendly.
